Our Art Table

A round up of some of our favorite art projects here on campus!! This page has a brief overview of four of the big monthly themes that I revisit, and the blog at the bottom of the page will show more themes and ideas that we work into our art projects!

Welcome to "Our Art Table," where creativity comes alive with a fresh theme each month! At our art table, we embark on a colorful journey through various artistic concepts and techniques, tailored to spark imagination and inspire artistic growth.

Each month, we dive into a new theme, offering a range of engaging activities designed for young artists, teachers, and creative parents alike - these are a few of our favorite “umbrella” themes!

Explore the topics below to discover some of our favorite activities - I try to share everything you need to bring these art adventures to life, but click to read more for Your Art Table

  • When the month's theme is "ourselves" we focus on portraits, dreaming of our future homes, what we want to be when we grow up, how we can draw our families, what does a family look like, and more!

The conversations around the "ourselves" theme are SO important and a great way to connect with the kids!

  • I love when we base a month around art and nature, and seeing art IN nature!

These months we do lots of art scavenger hunts for different colors, we've done leaf rubbings, make clay from mud, create stick people from natural objects!

  • When I find a great book for our dorm libraries, sometimes I will pull one to the art table so that we can read it out loud together and then have free drawing time inspired by the book!

The Boy with Big, Big, Feelings has been a favorite! We drew a picture of our face at the bottom of the page, and then filled the rest with colorful depictions of different feelings we had that day!
